Date: Monday, 17th of June 2024, 11:00 - 13:00h
Place: Sala d'Actes FIB (B6), Campus Nord
Come and join the roundtable discussion: 'Meeting on Biological and Electronic Neurons for Biohybrid and In-Vitro Neural Networks: Challenges and Applications'
The event has been organized by the Department of Electronic Engineering (EEL) at UPC
Speakers:
- Hideaki Yamamoto (Tohoku University)
- John Beggs (Indiana University)
- Jesús Gómez-Gardeñes (Univ. Zaragoza)
- Jordi Soriano (Universitat de Barcelona)
- Jordi Madrenas (UPC)
Each speaker will introduce his viewpoint on current state of the art in the modeling and interaction between biological and electronic neurons. Then, a discussion will be open with the audience on topics that have an overt impact on society, not limited to:
- Can we afford the cost of machine learning (artificial intelligence)?
- Are we close to augmented humans?
- How far are we to the singularity point?
- Which are the ethical limitations of blending electronics and biology?
- The death of internet.
