The Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) has always had among its main goals the continuous quality assurance of all of its academic programmes. In this regard, FIB took part as a teaching centre of reference for obtaining by the UPC the European quality seal EFQM in its maximum level of excellence. This accreditation was granted to the UPC in March 2002.
The FIB later participated in the second stage of the first call of the AUDIT programme, which took place during the academic year 2008-2009, and received a positive assessment in June 2009.
The Faculty considered an opportunity for reflection and reorganisation of the way it is run the adaptation of its studies to the European Higher Education Area, establishing the processes and mechanisms that make up the so-called Internal Quality Assurance System (IAQS). This system guides a periodicity of internal analysis and determines a cyclical process of external evaluation of the quality with a basic milestone that are the processes of accreditations. The external evaluation is carried out by quality agencies such as AQU, and allows supervising the performance of the studies and informs the society about their quality.
