inLab FIB is a research and innovation laboratory of the Barcelona School of Informatics at UPC, specialised in the development of multidisciplinary R+D+i projects in the field of Information and Communication Technologies.
The purpose of this task is twofold. On the one hand, to innovate and transfer knowledge to society to enable companies and public institutions to provide better services to society. On the other hand, the development of the human talent of FIB students within the framework of a comprehensive training programme, in the Talent programme, which complements their strictly academic training.
inLab FIB has been recognised as a TECNIO centre, an accreditation granted by ACCIÓ, the Agency for Business Competitiveness of the Generalitat de Catalunya, since 2019.
Areas of expertise at inLab FIB, are: are Data Science and Big Data; Intelligent Mobility; Knowledge and Service Engineering; Cybersecurity; Simulation and Optimisation; and ICT environments supporting learning..
For FIB students, inLab FIB is a professional environment of innovative project development that incorporates the training of collaborators as a goal on its own. Students are integrated in teams with technical personnel (staff) and professors with huge experience.
The aim of this program is to achieve comprehensive training for students as a supplement to their regular studies through both curricular and extracurricular activities.
The participation of companies in this program is organized through the sponsorship and collaboration in specific training projects aimed at the comprehensive training of students.
