The UPC, top Computer Engineering according to the CYD Ranking 2022

The CYD Foundation highlights the UPC for studying computer engineering in Spain in its ranking that compares the quality of Spanish universities.

The results of the ninth edition of the CYD Ranking, prepared by the CYD Foundation were published on 15 June. The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) is in competition with the highest number of indicators in computer engineering, being the first university in Spain to obtain these studies. Furthermore, UPC is a leader in Physics and Civil Engineering, as well as being in the top 1 Civil Engineering with the greatest number of indicators.

The CYD Ranking, which measures and compares the performance of universities according to dimensions such as teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and contribution to the development of the territory, presents an analysis by fields of knowledge (28 in total). In this edition, the ranking analyses 79 state universities (48 of which are public) and has counted 3.052 titles.

This year, as a novelty, the presence of women in STEM studies, or the digitization of teaching and assessment, has also been studied. Regarding the presence of women in STEM studies, theses written by women represent 37%, and teaching and research staff 30%, women teaching and research staff obtained 23% of the total number of chairs awarded. Women enrolled in STEM degrees already represent 36%, but they are still under-represented in Computer Engineering studies, with a 14% presence.

Spanish universities have increased the hybrid teaching model from 7% to 32% after the 2020-2021 academic year. Also noteworthy is the increase in the digitization of teaching assessment, from 4% of online exams to 30% after 2020-2021.
