UPC, at the “top 100” in Computer Science by the NTU ranking

The 2019 Edition of the Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities, also known as NTU Ranking, is been released by National Taiwan University the 10th of October. In the general ranking, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) is amongst the 500 best universities in the world at 473th place. As for the Engineering field, UPC keeps its position as the first university of the state at 138th place, and it is in the range of 351 to 400 in Natural Sciences.

Regarding ranking by subject, UPC is at 89th place in Computer Science. Three more subjects are in the “top 100”: Mathematics (71th place), Electrical Engineering (75th place), and Civil Engineering (76th place).

The NTU Ranking system evaluates the performance of scientific papers through three criteria: research productivity, research impact, and research excellence. Several indicators will help to compare both the quality and the quantity of scientific papers in each university. Eventually, by examining long-term performance and short-term research efforts, the intention is to provide a more objective ranking.
