The engineer Alicia Casals is awarded the Medalla d'Honor 2022, a recognition of professional trajectory, commitment to science, culture and society.

The Medalla d'Honor is the highest award given by the 22 universities of the Xarxa Vives in recognition of the professional trajectory, commitment to the science, culture and society developed by the honored people.
In this edition, the engineer Alícia Casals has been awarded for one of two awards Medalla d'Honor of the Xarxa Vives of Universities.
Alicia Casals is an industrial engineer, doctor of computer science and professor of the UPC. She has been a professor at the UPC, as well as a professor of computer architecture and technology at the Department of Systems Engineering, Automatic and Industrial Computer Science (ESAII). Alicia Casals has worked on intelligent robotics with medical applications as the director of the Robotics program of the Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya and has deployed projects and prototype robotic systems of aid to the disabled and to surgical interventions.
Currently, she is a member of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, president of the Section of Science and Technology. She has chaired several international congresses of experimental robotics, becoming vicepresident of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and the Technical Committee on Biorobotics of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
The award ceremony of the Medalla d'Honor 2022 and the Xarxa Vives of Universities awards will take place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on 12 July at 12 am. To attend, confirm using the online form until 6 July.
