Videoconferencing is a two-way communication system for both audio and video. This service enables real-time interaction between people located anywhere around the world. This enables meetings to be held or remote events to be viewed with the possibility of interaction and without the need for physical travel.

An evolution or type of videoconferencing are webconference or web conferencing service that we describe Webconference.

FIB has two Polycom HDX7000 videoconferencing equipment with H.323 and H.239 protocols (dual video channel) located in the meeting room and in the classroom A6203. It is a specialized hardware in order to provide a good quality picture and sound adapted to the bandwidth of the communications network. Both teams have MCU capacityand  can connect us to three remote locations simultaneously. Thanks to the dual-channel video content can send and receive computer (PC, laptop, ...) parallel to the camera image.

How to use

This is a paying service with a reduced price if you are a member of the UPC community, and totally free for professors of FIB.

When booking videoconferencing involves also a booking for the room where you will. It is highly recommended to check and test to ensure compatibility of equipment and test the feasibility of what you want to do.

FIB supports videoconferencing, to agilize whole process you should provide the necessary data at the time of booking.

Recommendations for those involved in the videoconference:

  •  Avoid, insofar as possible, clear colored clothes, better wear dark clothes.
  •  Avoid sudden movements and fast
  •  If you want to make a presentation with your laptop or PC try to use font size large (minimum 32 points) and that there is enough contrast between the background and the letters chosen.
