ICREA Acadèmia 2016 award

Albert Cabellos, FIB professor of the Department of Computer Architecture, is one of the five UPC researchers who has received the ICREA Acadèmia 2016 award in recognition of his research work at a Catalan public university.

 

The ICREA Acadèmia is a research intensification program, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, exclusively for the teaching staff of Catalan public universities and prioritizing the detection and encouragement of this group with greater potential for scientific growth.

Albert Cabellos works in intelligent communications networks. Using techniques of artificial intelligence, it seeks to make the networks work autonomously, learning that they need the users and operating more efficiently. Professor of the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona, ​​he collaborates in projects with several companies (Cisco, Samsung, CA and Intel, among others) and participates in others framed in international calls, such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) FET-Open for excellent Horizon 2020 science.

Since 2008, the UPC had a total of 28 teachers ICREA Academy and currently there are 18 active since 2012, which now join five distinguished researchers in 2016.
