It is the most important distinction awarded by the European Research Council (ERC) to research projects on the frontier of knowledge.

Antonio González, professor of the Department of Computer Architecture assigned to the FIB, has received the Advanced Grant for the project 'CoCoUnit: An Energy-Efficient Processing Unit for Cognitive Computing'. The objective of this project is to investigate the design of new intelligent computing systems inspired by the human brain that help us in many aspects of everyday life.
