Alicia Casals wins the “Nit de la Robòtica” 2019 award

Alicia Casals Gelpi, professor of the department of Automatic Control, wins the “Nit de la Robòtica” award for her professional career full of prizes and recognition.

The night of the 24th of October 2019, the 5th edition of the “Nit de la Robòtica” (Robotics Night) took place at the facilities of the Sant Pau Art Noveau Site. The event was organised by the Robotics Working Team of the Industrial Engineers of Catalunya Industry 4.0 Committee, which aim is to value experts’ work from the Robotics sector whereas taking into account the human side within the area.
Professor Alicia Casals has received the award from the Ministry of Business and Knowledge councillor, Àngels Chacón. The councillor has congratulated the catalan engineer and computer expert on being a “model that drives scientific and technical vocations amongst young women”.
During the same event, the award “Projecte de l’Any” (Project of the Year) has been presented, which values an initiative or an innovative project in any area of the Robotics that is been promoted in Catalunya last year. The winner of this 5th edition has been the Robolot initiative, for having promoted technological vocations from the region of la Garrotxa for many years.
Professor Paolo Dario honoured the ceremony with his presence, giving a speech on the future of this field. Dario is the award-winning of the Joseph Engelberge prize, which many consider to be the Nobel of Robotics.
