The Rail Map Challenge is a hackathon to improve the Barcelona public transport network and make it one of the best in the worldMonday 29 October 2018
The Rail Map Challenge happened on October 5 and 6. It's a 24-hour hackathon organized by ATM and SmartCatalonia, where was to be created, designed and programmed for new ways of interacting with the map of the public transport network railway from the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
The first prize was for the Marenostrum team formed by Sergio Paredes, Gonzalo Recio, Gisela Ruzafa and Josep de Cid, all of them members of InLab, who developed a mobile application that offers a routing system accessibility for people with reduced mobility in public transport. The application also offers a 3D view of the adapted route within the stop.
The second prize was for the Koala team. It was formed by Jorgina Arres (InLab), Pau Torrents (Fiber) and Ester Lorente and Marc Vila (ex-inLab), for the creation of an application that, in addition to the functionalities that currently has Google Maps or the ATM application, offers real-time alerts on the status of the service, offering the best route for the user taking into account the timing of the transfers.
The prizes will be presented within the framework of the exhibition Smart City Expo World Congress 2018, in November, at the Fira de Barcelona.
