WiDS Barcelona 2022 - Women in Data Science

You are here

WiDS Barcelona 2022 is back on 20 April to Sala d'Actes Manuel Martí Recober, with the aim of inspiring and educating new digital technologies.

The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative aims to inspire and educate data scientists from all over the world, regardless of gender, and support women in the field of data. WiDS began as a one-day technical conference at Stanford on November 2015. Currently, it is a global movement that includes multiple initiatives worldwide organized by WiDS ambassadors.

After the success of the WiDS-Barcelona 2021 which featured more than 300 participants, we made the 2nd edition of the WiDS-Barcelona 2022 in which we hope to be able to count on you. On 20 April, from 9.30 am to 14.30 pm in Sala d’Actes Manuel Martí Recober from FIB in face-to-face format with free pre-enrolment.
In addition, you can enrol at lunch with the speakers at the end of the day.

This year, the data science ecosystem of Catalonia will be analysed, as well as opening a space of reflection on how data circulating without control can be used to put women at risk, to facilitate gender violence in networks and what data technologies intervene in these bad uses. This edition will include top-level experts on how to make use of technology and data to generate protection against such abuses.

WiDS-Barcelona 2022 is an independent event organized by WiDS ambassadors in Barcelona, Karina Gibert (IDEAI-UPC, COEINF) and Nuria Castell (FIB-COEINF), in accordance with the annual World Conference Women in Data Science held at Stanford University and more than 150 locations worldwide.

The participation of the Digital Society's Dra Gral, Mrs Joana Barbany Freixa, and the vice-rector of social commitment and equality of the UPC, Mrs Fina Antonijuan, will be counted.
