750 students from all over the world have developed a technological project in just 36 hours in a new edition of HackUPC

From May 3 to 5, HackUPC 2024 was held, a competition in which teams of international students had the opportunity to test their creativity and technological skills by working in teams to address challenges proposed by companies.
During the three days of the hackathon, the students also took part in technological talks with sector specialists and in different fun activities. In addition, they had the opportunity to interact with professionals from the sponsoring companies, who contributed their products and the experience of their engineers.
In this tenth edition, the teams have focused on finding solutions to challenges such as, for example, improving the autonomy of blind people in an airport, simplifying the creation of shopping lists and navigating the supermarket aisles using assistants view or define travel plans according to departure and arrival locations and times.
In this edition of HackUPC 2024, the European Space Agency, IThink UPC, InterSystems, Grafana, Inditex, TravelPerk, Vueling, Seidor, GitJHub, Flanks and Bluetab have collaborated.
The first prize of this edition was taken by the Klìnic team, which developed a tool to obtain information about trends in clinical trials based on the general description of a certain disease. For its part, the TryOn team won the second prize, with a mobile application that allows users to try on clothes virtually. The third award went to Sensorize, an IoT solution that automates environmental management using real-time data.
The jury was made up of professionals from the sponsoring companies, University staff and personalities from the technology sector, who valued the technology applied to the project, innovation and learning experience.
The HackUPC is organized by students from the Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona (FIB) and the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona (ETSETB) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC).
