Huawei Switzerland Tech Arena'24

Huawei Zurich Research Center is organizing a hackathon at the intersection of AI and Computer Systems. The hackathon would happen totally online, except for the on-site DEMO which would happen in Huawei's office in Zurich.

The hackathon contains two challenges which are pretty relevant today:

1. LLM inference model compression and
2. Optimal large-scale network topologies for AI training. The first challenge aims to tackle the lack of scalability of the quadratic relationship between the LLM model memory size and its compute requirements and the sequence length, whereas the second challenge aims to tackle the poor scalability of today’s large-scale networks with AI training workloads, which heavily rely on all-to-all and all-reduce communication patterns.
