The Parliament of Catalonia has agreed to award the Medal of Honor in the Gold Category to Karina Gibert, a professor at the FIB since 1990.

The Bureau of the Parliament has unanimously agreed today to award the Medal of Honor in the Gold Category to Karina Gibert, a doctor in computer science and an expert in artificial intelligence.

The President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, accompanied by the other members of the Bureau, announced the award in a press conference, highlighting that "it is an immense honor to be able to recognize these people and organizations, which are a perennial source of inspiration."

According to the award agreement, the distinction granted to Karina Gibert acknowledges "her contribution to the governance of artificial intelligence and for being a leading figure in raising awareness about the ethical and responsible development and use of this technology."

The award ceremony will take place on the 29th of October at the Palace of the Parliament.
