11F at the FIB: International Day of Women and Girls in Science – Let’s Go Engineering

11F Dia Internacional de la Dona i la Nena en la Ciència

On 11th of February, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated, established by the UN in 2016 (Resolution A/RES/70/212), to recognize the crucial role of women and girls in science and technology. This initiative aims to break legal, economic, social, and cultural barriers, promoting their participation and acknowledging their achievements.

However, in some fields such as Artificial Intelligence, only one in five professionals is a woman (22%). Women represent only 28% of engineering graduates and 40% of those in computer science and computing studies.

Coinciding with this date, a new edition of Let’s Go Engineering will take place at FIB, an activity aimed at 6th-grade students, sponsored by Schneider Electric. Its goal is to encourage STEM vocations and reduce the gender gap in our studies.

Through this initiative, we reinforce our commitment to ensuring that female talent leads the digital and technological transformation of the future.
