General UPC Regulations
Curricular assessment
All the subjects in the curriculum are grouped into curricular blocks. Students are assessed for a curricular block when they have taken all the subjects in a block. A curricular assessment committee (a different committee for each block) conducts this assessment and decides whether students have passed the block or not.
Curricular blocks
The bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics is divided into three curricular blocks.
- Initial stage. This curricular block consists of the 10 compulsory subjects that make up the first two semesters of the degree (ALG, AP1, CB, IB, POC, AP2, BC, CAL, CAOS and MB).
- Compulsory subjects of the 2nd and 3rd years. This curricular block consists of the compulsory subjects of the degree taken during the 2nd and 3rd years (AP3, BDA, DB, DMO, GG, AB, DV, NSB, PN, SMSP, ADS, BP, CG, PGME, SL, HPC, ML, OT, PCG and SB).
- Final assessment. This curricular block consists of all the subjects not included in the previous blocks. It includes optional subjects, Ethics and Scientific Communication (ECS) and the bachelor's thesis (TFG).
Students in the initial stage are subject to the specific academic progress regulations detailed in Section 4 of the FIB’s Academic Regulations for Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees.
The committee for a block meets when there are students who have taken all the subjects in that block.
