On 14 November, the first session of the Academic Ceremony for the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, class of the 2024–2025 academic year, was held.

The Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) held on Friday, 14 November, the first graduation ceremony for the graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering for the 2024–2025 academic year. The ceremony brought together students, families, and faculty in an emotional event that marks the beginning of a new professional stage for the new engineers.

The event opened with an address by the Dean of the FIB, Anna Rio, who welcomed the attendees and congratulated the newly graduated students.

Next, Albert Priego, Staff Threat Researcher at SentinelOne, delivered the talk “FIBERS: Endgame,” in which he shared the ideas that, throughout his professional career, have helped him grow and advance in the tech sector. Among his advice, he highlighted the importance of setting goals, staying flexible, and remembering that there are no limits when motivation and perseverance are present. He also emphasized that “being happy at work is possible,” a message that resonated with the audience.

Looking back, Priego shared what he would tell his past self when he started working: to enjoy the first steps, keep motivation alive, and always be your own best ally.

The Associate Dean for the Initial Stage and Tutorial Action Programmes, Gemma Sesé, led the next part of the ceremony and introduced students Mireia Oltra and Jianing Xu Wang, graduates of the 2024–2025 cohort, who shared their experiences and learnings from their time at the FIB.

During the ceremony, the NTT Data Award for the best academic transcript of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering was presented, with a value of €1,000. The award went to Jianing Xu Wang and was presented by Vanessa Paulino Cobo, Talent Acquisition Manager at NTT Data.

Next, Mr. Javier Martí, Dean of COETIC, and Ms. Àstrid Desset, Associate Dean of the COETIC Presidency, were invited to the stage to present the award for the best academic transcript in each GEI specialization.

The ceremony concluded with remarks from the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Students, Maria José Jiménez, who congratulated all the graduates for the effort and dedication demonstrated throughout their studies. The event closed with a reception that allowed everyone to share and celebrate this special moment together as a community.
