On 28 November, the second session of the academic ceremony for the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, class of the 2024–2025 academic year, was held.

The Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) held on Friday, 28 November, the second graduation ceremony for students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering corresponding to the 2024–2025 academic year. The ceremony brought together students, families, and teaching staff in an emotional event that marks the beginning of a new professional stage for the new engineers.
The event began with an address by the Dean of the FIB, Anna Rio, who welcomed the attendees and congratulated the new graduates.

The Secretary for Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Generalitat, Albert Tort Pugibet, delivered the keynote speech of the event, addressing the students with a message focused on responsibility, values, and the importance of maintaining a clear vision for their professional future. On the professional side, he encouraged students to have a clear idea of where they want to go when joining an organisation, defining their own vision, committing to continuous improvement, and adopting a proactive attitude. He highlighted that such direction is only possible when grounded in solid values, and he particularly emphasised the transformative power of kindness.
Tort concluded his speech by reminding the students that they must never lose their critical thinking and that technology must always go hand in hand with social responsibility.

After the keynote speech, the student representatives of the graduating class, Jana Ros and Gianfranco Sáenz, took the floor. They highlighted the path they had travelled and the collective effort involved, sharing an empowering message: “If we managed to get through these studies, we can handle anything.” In their acknowledgements, they made special mention of families, partners, and friends, as well as the teaching staff and the technical and administrative personnel, for their constant support throughout the years of study. With a touch of humour, they also included a thank-you to ChatGPT.
The students concluded with an enthusiastic and proud cheer for the entire class: “Congratulations, Fibers—go out and conquer the world!”

During the event, the COETIC Award in the category of Specialisation in Information Technologies was presented by Mr. Javier Martí, Dean of COETIC, as well as the FIB Alumni Award for the Best Bachelor’s Thesis, presented by Mr. Pau Fonseca, member of the FIB Alumni Board, in recognition of the students’ effort and excellence.
During the ceremony, Anna de Mier addressed the students who participated in the mobility programme, while Gemma Sesé introduced the students who took part in the Tutorial Action Plan. The Talent Certificates were also awarded by the Director of inLab FIB, Mr. Ernest Teniente, recognising the students’ involvement in these initiatives.

The ceremony concluded with remarks by the Vice-Rector for Social Responsibility and Equality, Ms. Ariadna Llorens, who congratulated the graduates with an emotional “We look at you with pride.” She emphasised creativity, collaboration, and responsibility. With a touch of humour, she added: “The code may fail, the server may crash, but what you’ve learned here—we hope it stays fully operational.”
Congratulations to the 2024–2025 graduating class!
