Professor Josep Lluís Berral recognized in the 2025 UPC Award for Quality in University Teaching

Professor Josep Lluís Berral García, from the Department of Computer Architecture and a lecturer at the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB), has been awarded the 2025 UPC Award for Quality in University Teaching, in the category for new faculty teaching projects.

His award-winning project, ‘Promoting sustainability and responsible resource use through deep learning in AI studies’, proposes an innovative teaching approach based on active methodologies such as example-based learning, challenge-driven work, and flipped classrooms. This strategy enhances students’ motivation, critical thinking, and practical skills, while encouraging an ethical and sustainable view of the profession.

According to the jury, the proposal represents a transformative model in higher education, linking the development of technical skills with environmental and social awareness—particularly relevant in the field of artificial intelligence.
