Professor Gissell Estrada wins a 2025 Leonardo Scholarship

BBVA Foundation awards Gisselle Estrada with highly competitive scholarship

Professor Gissell Estrada, from the research group of the department Equacions en Derivades Parcials, has been awarded the Leonardo 2025 fellowship granted by the Fundación BBVA, in the area of basic mathematical sciences, for her project titled “Collective migration across scales: From PDEs to physical swarms.”

Created in 2014, the Leonardo fellowships are an initiative to promote knowledge by supporting research and creativity. This year, 60 projects were selected out of 1,623 applications, all highly innovative, spanning a wide range of disciplines in scientific research and cultural creation. The fellows of this 12th edition join the Leonardo Network, a community currently made up of 742 researchers and creators, along with the experts who have served on the program’s evaluation committees since its inception.
