As part of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) institutional mission to China, held between 1 and 8 July 2026, Lluís Màrquez, Vice-Dean for Planning and Strategy in Artificial Intelligence at the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB), took part in an extensive programme of meetings with some of the country's most prestigious universities. The UPC delegation also included representatives from the EEBE, ETSEIB, ESEIAAT and ETSCCPB.
During the visit, institutional meetings were held with Tsinghua University, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), Tongji University, and the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), internationally recognised institutions in engineering, computer science and artificial intelligence. The meetings highlighted the growing interest of these universities in establishing long-term partnerships with European institutions such as UPC and, in particular, with FIB.
One of the most significant outcomes of the mission was the signing of a new mobility agreement between UPC and Tsinghua University, which will enable FIB students to participate in exchange programmes with the university from the 2027–2028 academic year.
The visit also helped strengthen existing institutional relationships and opened new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as joint bachelor's and master's degree programmes, faculty and researcher exchanges, and the development of collaborative research projects.
