Josep Ruano will discuss the key mistakes to avoid and the essential ingredients for success when starting a tech company.

Who is the speaker?

In 2001, Josep Ruano founded CAPSiDE, a company that initially developed web-based business software. Over time, it evolved into a firm specializing in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering).

As CEO of CAPSiDE, he led the company until it was acquired by NTT in 2019. After the acquisition, he headed NTT Ltd.’s public cloud managed services division and served as Global Vice President until July 2020. From 2012 to 2019, he was also a member of Microsoft’s Public Cloud Advisory Board at the company’s headquarters in Redmond.

He is currently co-founder and board member at Ackcent Cybersecurity, co-founder and president of BiteRight, and advisor to several companies. In addition, he collaborates with ESADE, where he teaches about the intersection of philosophy, society, politics, and technology.

Josep began programming at just 13 years old and has always combined work and study. He has experience in management, systems, embedded, graphics, and web programming. In 1994, he created Spain’s first e-commerce platform for a supermarket chain.

He also took part in one of the largest corporate operations in the tech world, involving the merger of 31 companies to form the largest ICT services company globally by revenue.

Today, he remains actively involved in several technology and gastronomy projects.
