The Bureau of the Parliament unanimously agreed today to award the Gold Medal of Honour to Karina Gibert, PhD in Computer Science and expert in artificial intelligence.
The President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, accompanied by the other members of the Bureau, announced the award in a press briefing, highlighting that “it is an immense honour to recognise these people and institutions, who are a constant source of inspiration.”
According to the award resolution, the distinction granted to Karina Gibert recognises “her contribution to the governance of artificial intelligence and because she is a reference in raising awareness for the ethical and responsible development and use of this technology.”
The award ceremony will take place on 29 October at the Parliament Palace.
