The BitsxLaMarató initiative has been awarded the FIB Award 2026 during the 23rd edition of Festibity, held on June 17 at the Port of Barcelona.

This distinction, granted by the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB), recognises individuals and initiatives that have made outstanding contributions to the life of the School and its values.

The jury highlighted BitsxLaMarató’s ability to transform the talent of the university community into a driver of innovation with a real social impact. The initiative has successfully brought together students, researchers, healthcare professionals and patient associations, demonstrating the potential of technology as a tool to improve people's lives.

The award also recognises the initiative’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and its ability to inspire new generations of students to apply their technological knowledge and skills in the service of a more inclusive, supportive and socially committed society.

The award was accepted by Daniel Jiménez, professor at FIB, and Montserrat Jándula, member of the School’s technical, management and administrative staff.

With this distinction, FIB recognises a project that exemplifies how technology, research and social commitment can work together to generate a positive impact on society.
