UPC, a reference in Computer Science according to THE WUR by Subject (2026)

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) once again stands out in the new edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject (THE WUR by Subject), published this January.

In Computer Science, UPC consolidates its position as the top university in Catalonia and co-leads at the national level. In addition, UPC has improved its ranking in Engineering, Arts & Humanities, reaching the 301–400 range worldwide, and maintains a strong position in Physical Sciences at the European level. 

Across the different subject rankings, UPC achieves its best results in the Industry indicators, which measure income from the industrial sector and patents generated, and in the International Outlook indicators, which take into account the percentage of international students and faculty, as well as the proportion of international co-authorship in publications, among other factors.. 

The 2026 edition of THE World University Rankings by Subject publishes results for more than 1,500 universities worldwide, based on 18 performance indicators grouped into five pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook.
