The Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) has held the opening ceremony of its 50th anniversary, marking the beginning of a very special celebration for the entire community. Five decades of teaching, research, innovation and, above all, people who have helped build and shape the School over the years.
The Dean of FIB, Anna Rio, opened the event and welcomed those in attendance, beginning a celebration designed to look back on the journey of the past 50 years while also looking ahead to everything that is still to come.
One of the highlights of the event was a round-table discussion, moderated by Francisco Javier Costa, which brought together different generations and people with longstanding connections to the School to share memories, experiences and reflections on FIB's evolution.
The round table featured Josep Casanovas, former Dean of FIB; Núria Castell, former Dean of FIB; Núria Casals, professor at ESAII; Claudia Ayala, Director of ESSI; and Núria Pelechano, professor at FIB.
The conversation offered an opportunity to revisit part of the School's history and relive some of its memorable moments, while also reflecting on the present and the challenges ahead. It is a history that has been built in classrooms, departments, research, management and across university life, thanks to all the people who have been and continue to be part of the FIB community.
The event was also an opportunity to reconnect, share memories and celebrate a shared sense of belonging to FIB, bringing together people who have been part of different stages of the School's history.
The Rector of the UPC, Francesc Torres Torres, closed the event with the final address.
Fifty years mean many generations, many projects, many challenges overcome and many shared stories. This opening ceremony marks the beginning of an anniversary to remember where we come from, celebrate everything the FIB community has built and continue imagining, together, the School we want to build for the years ahead.
