IBERES and AstraZeneca are organising Respira Hackathon 2026, CIBER's first International Hackathon focused on respiratory diseases. Taking place from 1 to 3 October in Barcelona, the initiative will bring together health, technology and talent to address real-world challenges in healthcare.
The Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) at UPC and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) are collaborating in the organisation of the event, contributing their expertise and advanced computing capabilities to support the development of technological solutions to the proposed challenges. The Dean of FIB will take part in the institutional opening on the first day of the hackathon.
Over more than 50 hours of collaborative work, teams will have access to specialised mentoring and real-world data to develop solutions with the potential to improve people's health. The challenges will focus on four areas: pulmonary fibrosis, COPD, severe asthma and the long-term effects of respiratory infections.
In addition, FIB students who participate may earn up to 2 credits, under the same conditions established for bitsxLaMarató.
Pre-registration is now open. Interested participants can complete the pre-registration form and will subsequently receive a link to finalise their registration.
