What are the Official Master's Degrees?

Official Master's Degrees are official university studies. Therefore, the fees for these courses will be charged at officially fixed public prices. These Master's Degrees provide advanced training for academic, professional and research specialization. This is the first implementation fixed by the new configuration of university studies within the framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). According to the focus, there are three different  types of Official Master's Degrees:

  • Professional, intended to train students in professional practice
  • Research, intended to train students in research skills
  • Academic, of a mixed nature, intended to train students both in professional practice and research skills

How are the Master's Degrees in IT area that are offered by the FIB

They are built upon the organizational structure of the Barcelona School of Informatics and the contribution of all associated departments.

All the Master's Degrees guarantee generic knowledge equivalent to that of the Informatics Engineering; so the graduate students will have the training needed to develop responsibility tasks in the Informatics area.

Which Master's Degrees are offered?

Master in Information Technology (MTI)
Academic-oriented, professional specialized and face-to-face teaching Master's Degree.

Master in Computer Architecture, Networks and Systems (CANS)
Academic-oriented and face-to-face, inter-university Master's Degree.

Master in Computing (MC)
Academic-oriented and face-to-face, inter-university Master's Degree.
Entry places: 30
Deadline for application: June 15th, 2008
Master in Artificial Intelligence (MIA)
Academic-oriented and face-to-face, inter-university Master's Degree.
Entry places: 30
Deadline for application: June 15th, 2008

Who can apply for the 2008-2009 academic year?

Technical engineers in computer science (or similar branch of knowledge), or those people who have a bachelor's degree issued by a higher education institution that allow to the issuer country to enrol in a master's degree, are allowed to apply for the Master's Degrees.

How long do they take?

The study load of the Master's Degree ranges from 60 to 120 ECTS, depending on the student's background.
