The aim of the Vulcanus Program is to provide the opportunity for European students to know the advanced technologies used by Japanese companies, as well as their awareness of Japanese culture and knowledge of their language. After the end of the stay, students will have greater career opportunities since having been in contact with Japanese companies and enterprises.

The Vulcanus Program is the realization of an internship in a city in Japan starting in September and ending in August of the following year. Students perform:

  • A week-long seminar in Japan.
  • An intensive Japanese language course of four months.
  • An internship period of 8 months in a Japanese company.

Requirements

  • Being a citizen of the European Union.
  • Being a master's student or a student in the last year of the bachelor's degree in Informatics Engineering.
  • Being able to reside in Japan for a year as a sabattical.

Selection criteria

Applicants are selected based on their academic record and the opinion of their teachers, the knowledge of written and spoken English, their motivation and their attitude to EU-Japan relations and their ability to adapt .

Description economic aid: 

Vulcanus in Japan is financed by the Japanese host company and the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation. The students receive a grant of 1.9 million yen for the trip back and forth and the cost of living expenses in Japan. They are hosted by the company that hosts them for 12 months. Language courses and seminars are managed by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation.
