The competition is being organised by Barcelona City Council, with support from Vodafone and Toshiba, and joins other city initiatives that reaffirm Barcelona as the world mobile capital.

Apps4bcn is aimed at Spanish and foreign businesses, entrepreneurs and freelance mobile application developers.

Aim
Apps4bcn is a functional mobile apps competition which aims to reward the best innovative mobile apps that clearly contribute towards the creation or improvement of services linked to Barcelona and its people, businesses, entrepreneurs and administrations.

Subject matter
The subject matter is open, although the focus must be on finding solutions that help improve existing city services or offer new ones. Developers may focus their projects on municipal services and the city of Barcelona, as well as the following: enterprise city, tourism, environment, public participation or urban planning, among others.

The entry presentation period will remain open until midnight on Thursday 17 May 2012.
