A total of 25 PhD at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech (UPC) have obtained the new Mention of Excellence awarded by the Ministerio de Educación.

The distinction is a recognition of scientific and technical reliability and trainer of doctoral programs, as well as research groups or departments concerned with the formation of Ph. Doctors.

The 8 PhD programs of excellence given by the department associated with FIB are:

• COMPUTER (Dpt. ESSI, Dpt. LSI)
• BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING (Dpt. ESAII)
• NUCLEAR ENGINEERING AND IONIZING RADIATION (Dpt. FEN)
• STATISTICS AND OPERATIONS RESEARCH (Dpt. EIO)
• COMPUTATIONAL AND APPLIED PHYSICS (Dpt. FEN)
• APPLIED MATHEMATICS (Dpt. MA2)
  

In addition, the PhD in Artificial Intelligence (LSI Dpt.) has received a favorable evaluation ANECA.
