New features of the PFC system through the Racó

Compartir
Introduced: 30-06-2010
It has launched an application in Racó to support some of the processes associated with the Final Project of Computer Engineering (Plan 2003).
This action complements the implementation of the project registration system through the Racó (February 2010) and the project started the year 2008-2009 to deposit the final project reports submitted to the 2nd Master of Quality Award Management at UPC.

The features that have been incorporated in June 2010 for Computer Science degree (Plan 2003) are:

* Presentation of the report prior to the reading of PFC
* Reading of PFC Application
* Deposit of memory by the student and access to it by members of the court.

The board members can borrow an electronic book reader (iRex, IPAD or similar device) to check memory in digital format. Alternatively they can apply, if they wish, have a copy of the report on paper. In this way the student only has to print the reports are strictly necessary, making the current rules compatible with the conservation of resources. Approximately 2 out of 3 members of the court and opt for the digital copy.

All the memories of Final Project will be deposited in the Library in PDF format, along with a summary and keywords should introduce students from Raco. The student may see open access published work, and not only those reports made public subject to confidentiality clauses.

The implementation of this project represents a significant saving of resources and reduced environmental impact. For example, the Engineering projects currently registered, will be saved in addition to the copy for the library, an average of two of the three copies of the court. The number of sheets that will save approximately 114,000 sheets of paper (200 sheets per report, three copies and 190 projects currently registered).

According to data from the Abacus Cooperative and GreenPeace, the savings in the production and printing of 114,000 sheets of paper (not including printers and toner manufacturing) would be for projects currently registered:

* 8550 liters of water
* 5522 Kw
* 855 kg of waste
* 8 trees
* 3 tons of CO2
