Dr. Ishiguro and his team are leading some of the research in robotics and artificial intelligence's most advanced, with the aim to obtain transfer the "presence" through human robots, and with important applications in telecommunications and the study of the mind and society. According to the vision of Dr. Ishiguro, the information age we are currently living will gradually merging with the era of robotics, in a process of change in human societies. Before we arrive to share our days with robots, as we have seen in countless films, artificial intelligence will be crucial in many aspects of our lives. In this transition, the contributions of art and philosophy are key to understanding the way we understand, use and create technology, leading-edge research taking place beyond the borders that delimit the fields of knowledge that we know so far.

In his own words: "Humans have a brain ready to interact with humans. So we are interested in human-like robots. In order to investigate human nature and understand in depth what it means to be human, I have developed a series of androids that look very human. The most interesting is the android Geminoid, which is a remotely operated android. We have found that the operator can adapt to the body of the android and accept as his own body, which means you can transmit your presence, through the robot, to a distant place. in these lectures I will explain why we develop these robots and what can be learned from these investigations "
