The 3rd edition of the SomHackathon, held in Mataró from 8 to 10 February 2019, awarded the 1st prize to a team that included FIB Computer Engineering students Bernat Torres and Pol Mesegué. The FIB students formed a team with Bruno Nevado, Pere Coller and Robert Gracia. In addition to the €2,000 cash prize, they also gained access to the TecnoCampus pre-incubator to continue developing their project.
The hackathon, organized by the TecnoCampus Foundation, the Mataró City Council and the cooperative Somos Movilidad, aims to promote innovation, talent and the development of new ideas related to public space through the creation of applications. On this occasion, the event focused on developing technological alternatives to manage public spaces in a more dynamic and sustainable way.
A total of 51 participants, including university, high school and vocational training students, took part in SomHackathon 2019, which also featured the collaboration of 23 mentors from different fields. It is worth highlighting that the number of companies and organizations supporting the initiative increased in this edition. The sponsors included Antai Venture Builder and Bytemaster. Abacus cooperativa, Lliure TIC, Coopdevs, femProcomuns, freeknowledgeinstitute, Som Energia and Som Connexió also participated in the event as collaborators.
SomHackathon TecnoCampus is an initiative framed within the commitment to the quadruple helix model, which promotes joint work between companies, institutions, the academic sector and citizens, and which is transforming key sectors of our society such as energy, telecommunications and mobility.
