The director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), Mateo Valero, has been awarded the “Innovation and Science” Prize at the Second Edition of the Vanguardia Awards 2024 ceremony, held at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona, coinciding with the 143rd anniversary of the newspaper La Vanguardia.
The director of the BSC received the award from the Minister of Industry, Jordi Hereu, at an event that was also attended by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Salvador Illa, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, among other authorities. In his speech, Valero extended the recognition to the entire BSC team and highlighted the importance of education and science in ensuring the country’s progress.
