This course aims to further students' knowledge on the basic concepts of the TCP/IP protocols and the structure of data communication networks (Internet) that they have gained in prior courses (XC and PXC). This course focuses on more advanced concepts, such as EGP routing, Spanning Tree protocol, wireless networks, mobility and multimedia support. The main topics are organized as follows:
- Routing (OSPF, BGP, Peering, STP).
- Wireless networks and mobility (Wireless networks, mobile IP).
- Multimedia (Coding, scheduling mechanisms, multimedia protocols).

Theory classes and lab classes.
The lab classes will be 2 hours long, in which students will learn how to configure an important aspect of TCP/IP protocols. The practical sessions put the concepts learnt in the theory classes into practice.
Some sessions are given over to seminars, in which aspects complementing the course are dealt with.
